Shopify Store Getting Views but No Sales in Pakistan: COD Checkout Fixes

CortVista Team2026-09-2411 min read

Ads are spending. Facebook shows clicks. Shopify analytics shows sessions. Orders sit at zero — or one accidental test order from your cousin. For ecommerce sellers in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, and smaller cities, "views but no sales" almost always traces back to trust and checkout friction around cash on delivery (COD), not to "the algorithm."

This guide diagnoses a Shopify store getting traffic but no sales in Pakistan, with practical COD checkout fixes.

Separate Traffic Problems from Conversion Problems

Before rewriting the whole theme:

1. **Are visitors the right audience?** Broad interest ads ("shoes lovers") waste money. Look at add-to-cart rate and checkout start rate. 2. **Is mobile broken?** Most Pakistani buyers browse on Android Chrome. Test your own checkout on Jazz/Zong 4G, not only office Wi-Fi. 3. **Is price clear in PKR?** Hidden USD, confusing decimals, or "contact for price" kills intent. 4. **Do you actually stock and ship?** Buyers message on WhatsApp first when the site feels fake. Track how many chats ask "ye available hai?"

If add-to-cart is near zero, fix offers, photos, and trust. If add-to-cart is healthy but checkout collapses, fix COD and payment UX.

The Pakistan Shopify Reality Check

Shopify is powerful, but out of the box it is not tuned for Pakistani COD habits:

- Buyers expect COD as default, not card-first - Many will abandon if shipping cost appears late - WhatsApp is the trust layer — stores that hide contact look risky - Couriers, delivery timelines, and city coverage must be explicit - Partial prepayment + COD hybrids are common for high-ticket items

If your checkout mirrors a US fashion brand (cards only, vague shipping, no local phone), views will not become orders.

COD Checkout Fixes That Matter

### 1. Make COD Obvious Before Checkout Show "Cash on Delivery available" on product pages and collection cards — not only on the final step. Ambiguity sends people to WhatsApp, where many never return.

### 2. Put Shipping Rules in Plain Language State:

- Which cities you deliver to - Estimated days for major cities vs others - COD fee if any (and whether it is refundable) - Free shipping threshold in PKR

Surprise Rs. 250 shipping at step three is a classic abandonment trigger.

### 3. Reduce Form Friction Ask only what the courier needs: name, mobile, city, full address, optional landmark. Every extra field (company, apartment suite formats copied from US themes) costs orders.

Validate Pakistani mobile numbers sensibly (`03XXXXXXXXX`) and show errors in plain English/Urdu mix your audience understands.

### 4. Build Trust Above the Fold On product and cart:

- Real photos (not only marketplace scrapes) - Clear return/exchange policy for local realities - Business WhatsApp and phone in the header - Reviews or order screenshots you can stand behind - NTN/brand consistency if you claim a registered business

Fake countdown timers and stock "only 1 left" scripts train buyers to distrust you.

### 5. Offer a WhatsApp Order Path Without Abandoning Shopify Many customers will order on chat after browsing. That is fine — but tag those orders, and keep catalog, pricing, and stock synced so ads do not sell out-of-stock SKUs.

Use a clear "Order on WhatsApp" with prefilled product link. Do not force every buyer through a broken card gateway.

### 6. Fix Payment Method Order Put COD first if that is your main channel. If you offer JazzCash/Easypaisa/card, label them clearly and test failures on mobile networks. A failing card redirect with no COD fallback is a silent sales killer.

### 7. Tighten Post-Purchase Messaging COD buyers cancel when confirmation is slow. Auto-send order confirmation with:

- Order ID - Delivery window - Courier name when assigned - A WhatsApp number for changes

Call/SMS high-value COD orders within business hours to confirm address — that alone cuts fake orders.

Theme and Speed Issues That Look Like "No Demand"

- App bloat slowing mobile LCP on mid-range Androids - Popup stacks (email, discount, cookie, chat) blocking the Buy button - Out-of-stock variants still advertised - PKR currency app conflicts showing wrong totals

Run a checkout test weekly on a real phone. Record the screen. Fix anything that confuses you.

Metrics to Watch for One Week

- Sessions → add to cart - Add to cart → checkout started - Checkout started → order placed - COD cancel / RTO rate after delivery attempt

If checkout start is strong but completion is weak, keep fixing COD UX. If add-to-cart is weak, fix offer and creative — not only the thank-you page.

Bottom Line

A Shopify store with views but no sales in Pakistan is usually a trust and COD checkout problem, not a mystery. Make COD visible, spell out shipping, shrink the form, prove you are real, and confirm orders fast. When traffic is real and checkout is local-friendly, sales follow.
